Our History
NDI was founded on 27th May, 2017, by a group of Zimbabweans residing in the United Kingdom, who shared a deep connection to the Nkayi District. Since then, our organization has grown to include members from around the globe, united by a common purpose: to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those living in Nkayi.

NDI's inaugural project sees the drilling and installation of a solar-powered borehole at Somakantana Primary School, addressing the critical need for clean water access in the community.

The organization extended its support to Nkayi Rural District Hospital by donating thermometers, enhancing healthcare infrastructure in the district.

NDI further aids healthcare facilities in Nkayi by donating hospital beds for maternity use, ensuring improved care for expectant mothers and their newborns.
Moved by...
Moved by persistently poor Grade 7 results in local schools, NDI conducted an assessment at Somakantana Primary School, identifying structural issues hindering education. This sparked the initiation of NDI's first major infrastructure project: the construction of a new classroom block comprising two classrooms and a headmaster's office.

NDI adopted, an orphanaged girl from Nkayi, who had passed her A Levels so well yet struggling to raise tuition fees to study abroad. This young lady completed her studies by attaining a 2:1 BSc Honours in Feb 2024.

Demonstrating its commitment to long-term impact and sustainability, NDI purchases 3,600 square metres of land for the construction of its offices and a vocational training centre. This centre aims to equip school leavers with essential skills and qualifications to enhance employment prospects and foster entrepreneurship in the community.
