At Nkayi Development Initiative (NDI), we are proud to showcase the impactful projects we have implemented in the Nkayi District. Each project represents a step towards positive change and a brighter future for the community. Explore our initiatives below:
In July 2019, NDI drilled and installed a solar-powered borehole at Somakantana Primary School. This project provided the school with access to clean and sustainable water, improving sanitation and hygiene for students and staff.
Recognizing the importance of healthcare infrastructure, NDI donated thermometers to Nkayi Rural District Hospital in April 2019. This contribution helped enhance the hospital’s capacity to monitor and manage patient care effectively.
In September 2019, NDI donated hospital beds for maternity use to Nkayi Rural District Hospital. This initiative aimed to improve maternal healthcare services and ensure expectant mothers receive the support and care they deserve.
One of our most significant achievements to date is the construction of a new classroom block at Somakantana Primary School. Completed on March 30, 2023, this project provided students with safe and conducive learning environments, addressing the challenges posed by inadequate infrastructure.
In November 2023, NDI acquired land with the intention of building offices and a vocational training centre. This future initiative aims to provide school leavers with valuable skills and qualifications, empowering them to pursue employment opportunities and contribute to community development.
